WITH FIVE incumbent aldermen

running for two mayoral positions
in the districts af North and West
Vancouver, council reporters who
regularly attend council meetings
at’ North and West Vancouver
district halls have put together a
summary of their observations of
the five in action as aldermen dur-
ing regular council meetings over
the past two years.

The observations are subjective
assessments of the five aldermanic
candidates put together in an ef-
fort to provide voters with a more
well-rounded picture of the can-
didates.

There is no mayoral candidate
assessment from the News’ North
Vancouver City reporter because
incumbent mayor Jack Loucks has
been acclaimed for his seventh
term in that municipality.

Reynolds has an uncompromising
approach to municipal issues that
some of her fellow West Van-
couver aldermen find objec-
tionable.

Though new to council two
years ago, Reynolds plunged in
and took a maverick, questioning
cole in and out of council debates.

While the rest of council might
have been convinced by legal ad-
vice to support such controversial
projects as the Twin Towers de-
velopment or the Collingwood
school expansion, Reynolds took
it as her mandate to vote against
anything connected with the two
issues.

Except for her promotion of
heritage causes, Reynolds has
taken a highly critical stand on
many development issues, in-
cluding blasting controls and the
