The speakers will include Lois Campbeli, manager of training and counselling for the North Vancouver branch of the FBDB, who will speak on the different methods of identifying business opportunities and describe a variety of successful businesses that have started on a small scale. Another speaker wil! be Bonnie Pyplacz, the NSEDC’s economic development officer. She will discuss growth industries and list potential business opportunites. The business conference will in- clude seminars and workshops on such topics as identifying business opportunities, specialty retailing 10 target. groups, opportunities in specialty foods, business cppor- tunities in the environment in- dustry, business opportunities in fashion products and servicing the high technology industry. A recent survey done by the NSEDC of high tech North Shore companies found they predict their revenues will increase 180 per cent over the next five years. “With the growth of the high technology industry on the North Shore, there will be an increased demand for businesses to. service the industry,” said Jefferies.
