On Friday, the game with the over-matched Crusaders was vir- tually over before it started, as Columbia could not handie the Blues’ press and were buried 36-6 before the first 10 minutes of the game had elapsed. SheBy Dobbins was Capilano’s top scorer, collecting 16 of his geme-high 20 points in the first half. On Saturday, the game with Trinity Western started out low scoring and close. Late in the first half, with Trinity clinging to a narrow 25-23 Sead, Capilano’s shooters went cold and Trinity put together a run of 13 straight points to take a comfortable 42-26 lead at the half. In the second period, the Spar- tans increased their lead to 21 points before the Blues mounted yet another of their potential come- backs. Shelly Dobbins hit 18 of his game-leading 25 points in a span of 10 minutes to put the Blues back in the game, trailing 69-63 with nearly five minutes to play. TORCHIERES... AN EXPRESSION IN The Spartans, whe were rattled and unable to stop Dobbins from scoring, dodged a dullet when Dobbins drew his fourth and fifth fouls on two offensive charging calls in a 30 second span. The departure of Dobbins from the game effectively killed the Blues’ momentum, enabling Trini- ty to preserve the win.
