Now, it would seem,: that body is determined to ignore its ex- istence if onc may judge from the recently issued West Vancouver Report. ; In that document (p.8), a classic anti-climax indicates thal among wilderness parks under administra- tion are “‘Hollyburn Ridge, Light- SURREY 14625-108th AVE. 4 bike. north of Guildford Phone 585-8877 put your waste NORTH VANCOUVER 1400 MARINE DRIVE 984-0341 5 dep% (‘Depot hind- 1S 96) was excellent. Transit in making this decision, and am pleased to see the News speak out against B.C. Transit’s idiocy. ] ride buses from North Van- couver to Burnaby at Icast three days a weck, and thus get to see the horrors of rush hour on the Second Narrows Bridge at Cassiar and Hastings. What does B.C. Transit plan to do if it snows and traffic is slow on the bridge? What does it plan to do when Cassiar and Hastings is clogged with traffic in every direc- tion? Not only will buses be late arriving on the North Shore, therefore inconveniencing com- muters and making them wait, but, if a bus should break down and .CG. Transit need replacement, routes will be underserviced until a replacement can struggle through the traffic. Essentially, B.C. Transit has made a decision that will severely reduce the quality of transit on the North Shore, and will likely cause even more traffic problems as commuters abandon the unreliable service and take to their cars. I hope the North Shore News will continue to challenge B.C. Transit on this vitally important issue, and I encourage all concern- ed commuters to express their disapproval of the closing to municipal councils and to B.C. Transit.
