Store manager jailed for theft A 30-YEAR-OLD former manager of Mac’s Convenience Store was sentenced Wednesday in North Vancouver provincial court to a year in jail and placed on probation for two years. Carlos Chul-Ung Kwon pleaded guilty to two charges of thett over $1,000 after he skipped town with approximately $18,000 in store merchandise and stole a woman's purse. Kwon, who manaped the 4710 Capilano Road Mac's slore, was originally charged in connection with a July 8 incident, chronicled in the Aug. 7 issue of the North Shore News, in which he left town with a load of cigarettes and candy, and failed to forward a $2,700 remittance cheque to the company’s management for three employees’ wages issued by Mac's. He was charged with the other count of theft over $1,000 in connection with a July 19 incident in which a woman’s purse was stolen in West Vancouver. Appearing before Judge J.K. Shaw, Kwon pleaded guilty to both charges and was sentenced to one year in jail and two years’ pro- bation on both charges. The sentences will be served concurrently. Car crash injures four FOUR NORTH Vancouver juveniles were sent to Lions Gate Hospital with various injuries after a car they were driving in left the road in the 200-block Dollarton Highway. The car slammed into a B.C. Hydro utility pole at about 10:35 p.m. Sept. 19. The male driver of the 1975 Pontiac Firebird and two female passengers were released with minor injuries. A third female pas- senger remains at LGH in satisfactory condition suffering from head injuries. North Vancouver RCMP investigators have ruled out alcohol as a factor in the accident. Clifford Wayne Pearce was originally charged with possession of stolen property in connection with a Sept. 14 incident in which police seized three Makita power drills. He faces further charges of breaching the terms of a court order and driving while prohibited in connection with incidents Sept. U and July 27 in which he is alleged to have been in contact with a person contrary to the court order and been operating a vehicle while prohibited to do so. Appearing before Judge J.K.
