eo Dear Editor: It is wonderful to see to- day's youth pulling their weight during these times of educational cut-backs. Students from local elementary schools are sell- ing $2 chocolate bars door- to-door for books and school supplies. Such dedication is marvel- ous. Rather than frolicking about like children usually do, seven and cight year-olds are walking the icy streets for their own education. Let us hope it’s enough to warm every cold adult heart who supports the present ‘responsible’? government in Victoria. Oh, if only children could vote. It seems odd that a Feder- al Minister can be forced to Identify generous donors resign over unexplained campaign expenditures while in municipal campaigns ex- penditures of $20,000 or so need no explanation and the identification of the generous donors remains cloaked in secrecy. ; In the recent North Van- couver aldermanic campaign we are being asked to believe Not taking sides Dear Editor: In the Sun., Nov, 24 issue of your newspaper, there was an advertisement for a television program spon- sored by North Shore Pro Life under the title, ‘‘Alter- natives to Abortion.”’ 1 par- ticipated as a panelist on thal program on the understanding that it would be billed as a forum on Pret Single Parenthood.”’ As I said on the program, North Shore Family Services Society, for whom I work, does not have a formal pro- life or pro-choice policy. One of our stated goals is to help clients ‘‘develop con- Structive ways of dealing with the situations they are facing.”” I hope that viewers of this program will not be misled by this advertisement on the position of the North Shore Family Services. At the same time it is claimed that the present or future owners or developers took no part in this campaign although rezoning of the property could bring some of them a windfall profit of several million dollars. With regulations in force, such as those requested by Alderman Taylor, the voters of North Vancouver City would know from whence the funding came.
