International ‘special

CANADA POST’ COR-
PORATION plans to ex-
pand its international special
delivery service to many
more countries and raise the
insurance limit available on
international parcels.

Under regulation changes,
proposed by the Corpora-
tion, Canadians will be able
to send their air letter post
items special delivery to
more than 120 countries with
comparable services.

The service is currently
available to only 20 coun-
tries.

Letter post items include
letters, postcards, printed
papers up to 2 kg. and small
packets up to 1 kg.

They will also be able to
insure the contents of inter-
national parcels for most
countries up to a value of
$1,000, the same as now
within Canada.

Canada Post’s maximum
international insurance in-
demnity is now $500,

to reduce the number of
documents in use for inter-
national parcels.

The change will simplify
counter transactions and
improve international parcel
administration.

There will be no change to
documentation used for
parcels to the U.S.A.

There will also be less
documentation on many let-
ter post items because the
value of these items, requir-
ing a customs declaration in
addition to a green‘customs
label, is being ‘raised from
$100 to $300. ° "

The complete sealing of
books will be allowed to
facilitate postal handling.
Books would, however, con-
tinue to be subject to
verification if necessary.
