According to North Vancouver RCMP, the incident began with a pe- destrian crossing Lonsdale at 19th Street from east to west on the north side of the intersec- tion. A southbound vehicle in the left hand lane of Lonsdale stopped for the pedestrian, while a west- bound vehicle decided to cross the intersection at the same time as the pe- destrian. Meanwhile, the driver of a third vehicle, travell- ing southbound in the right hand Jane on Lonsdale, failed to see either the pedestrian or the westbound vehicle. At the hist minute, the driver became aware of the crossing traffic and accelerated to avoid a collision. However, the third vehicle was then struck by the crossing vehicle, at which point the driver of the third vehicle lost con- ttol and crossed unc cen- tre line, The vehicle then struck a Cushman vehicle, operated by the bylaw enforcement officer, which was located in the northbound §=right hand lane on Lonsdale.
