The play opens the follow- ing morning with Taylor, (Tom McBeath) looking after his friend’s broken leg and trying to figure out a way to get down from the ledge they’ve landed on. Most of their equipment Mn OD Tas x was lost in the fall, and with only three hours before a coming storm, the pair have little hope of making it down together. The brash Taylor must fight both the mountain, which wants to shrug the two of them off, and Harold’s wish that Taylor descend alone, leaving him to die. John Juliani’s task as director is made easy by the audience’s reaction to the ice- covered set (2,500 cubic feet of styrofoam, designed by eho BRE A Douglas Welch to look and sound like the side of a mountain). The novelty of having actors clamber ver- tically up the ice wall piques the audience’s curiosity.
