Bll - Wednesday, October 26, 1983 - North Shore News GS entertainment A HANDY TALENT Young comedian makes unique music WHEN SCOTT RUDDY plays Eidelweiss, you don’t immediately think of The Sound of Music; in fact the sounds created by the 14-year-old’s perfor- mance sound more like Donald Duck. Scott’s musical instrument is his cupped hands, which he works in the same way children squirt water in a swimming pool. | In fact that is how he began his dubious musical career. After squirting water in a pool one day, he found that by doing the same thing By NANCY WEATHERLEY out of water he could make sounds with his hands. Scott’s training in playing the trumpet helped him with the mechanics of playing music with his hands, and he began to play along with commercials games. Scott then began to prac- tise well known songs and worked up a repertoire of ten songs, including Eidieweiss, On Top of Old Smokey, She’ll be coming round the Mountain, Star Spangled Banner, Chariots of Fire, and Star Wars.
