NORTH SHORE dancer Charle Evans, recently described as ‘Vancouver's radiant contribution to ballet, will dance the role of the Sugarplum Fairy in the Pacific Ballet | ‘or e dancer stars DANCING the role of the Sugarplum Fairy in the up- coming Pacific Ballet Theatre production “Sugar plums” at Centennial Theatre is North Shore resident Charie Evans. Evans, described as “Van- couver’s radiant contribu- tion to ballet,” began dancing at the age of six. At twelve she began taking classes with Maria Lewis, founding director of the Pacific Ballet Theatre Company, and she has been a member of the company since its inception. The company, centered in | Serving 14:3 30a. m. to2p.m. Vancouver, has pushed itself into innovative areas such as the Renald Rabu choreo- graphed work, Creation of Eve, based on a Pacific Northwest Indian interpre- tation of the biblical story. Evans and _ colleague Gactan Masse danced per- formed the work to some high praise and it was shown last summer in Montreal at the Dance in Canada Conference. “Masse and Evans partner each other well and have a good rapport,” reviewer Cynthia Ashton wrote of their performance.. Beginning Dec. 7to ec. 22 Evans has attended Les Grande Ballet Canadiens Summer School, the Banff School of Fine Arts summer dance program and the Lois Smith Summer School of Dance at the George Brown College in Toronto.
