said the purchase-the-shell
program is being introduced

are prepared to pay the cost
of having them in their
homes or offices., B.C. Tel
has offered such pliones on a
lease basis for several years
and under this new plan will

MORE EQUITABLE.

The shell ‘purchase.
program will enable the
company to meet customer
desires for decorator phones
on a more equitable basis
than at present. Under the
existing lease arrangement,
customers pay a monthly
decorator-set charge .. in
addition to regular exchange
service rental and any ap-
propriate extension and
connection charges.
Customers make frequent
changes in their decorator
phones, adding to the cost. .

On the. shell-purchase
‘basis, the cost of providing
decorator-line phones will
be paid by the customers
who desire them and, at the

have decorator-line phones
as part of their service at the
start of the program will
have the option ‘of con-
tinuing to pay the monthly
surcharge or of ending the
surcharge by purchasing
“in place” decorator
phone or phones on an “as
is” basis at a purchase price
substantially lower than that
of a new-order purchase of
the same type of set.
Elimination of the surcharge
would offset the “in place, as
is” purchase price within the
first year.

As of June 1, all new
orders for decorator sets will
be accepted on the “shell”
purchase basis.
