Cypress Park meeting date set

. Provincial Park Society
is. sponsoring a public
mieeting, with a slide
' presentation, on Friday,
Oct, 23.
~The meeting will bring pub-
lic attention to the logging of
ancient trees to double the
park’s commercial ski capacity,
under a new master plan

Guest speakers for the
meeting are John Clarke and
Dan Moore. The focus will be
on Cypress’s park and wilder-
ness valucs, with an emphasis
on the importance of the park’s
remaining ancient forests.

Clarke is B.C."s best-known
explorer and = mountaincer.
Clarke is also well-known as a
wilderness educator. In the last
awo years he has reached more
than 12,000 B.C. students
through education programs

and presentations.

Moore has served for sever-
al years as president of the 3.C.
chapter of the Canadian Parks
and Wilderness Society, and is a
geography professor at Simon
Fraser University, specializing

Cypress Provincial Park con-
