As mare students and parents see the value in training for specific occupations, Carson Graham's career programs are growing in popularity. The sucess of the full time hairstyling program in finding employment opportunities for graduates has fostered an interest in expanding full time programs into a number of other career areas. ‘This career training centre proposal will once again make Carson Graham the Jeader in career training in British Columbia. Once completed, the facility will resemble a small shopping mall offering a number of services to the public. These services will include a new hairstyling salon, a store front electronic desktop publishing operation, a bakery, a restaurant, a retail marketing outlet and automotive and carpentry services. Consideration is also being given to a community services office which may include police, health and banking services. Once completed, this facility will provide students with opportunities to develop their skills in “real employ- ment” settings. Students will assume much of the responsibility for the mall's operation including management, marketing and accounting. This proposal has received strong "support from the Ministry of Education, Hospitality Management Travel & Tourism Business Management ‘Legal Secretary oe ‘Medical Secretary Computers/Accounting Sales & Marketing the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, the North Vancouver School Board and the City of North Vancouver, In order to proceed, this project must be ? funded through private and corporate sponsorship rather than with public money. The cost estimated to complete this project is $1.5 million. A committee made up of Garson Graham staff and members of the i groups mentioned above are working to make the career training centre 2 reality, but we need your input.
