Motorcyclist killed A 25-YEAR-OLD Coquitlam man was killed on Monday while driving a motorcycle on Cypress Bowl Road in West Vancouver. Christopher Thomas Beaton was pronounced dead at Liens Gate Hospital shortly after the 8 p.m. accident, according to a West Vancouver Police spokesman. Police say Beaton appeared to have missed a turn at the 8 km mark of Cypress Bowl Road while on a ride with several other motorcyclists fron Coquitlam. No one else was injured. Police believe speeding contributed to the accident. The investigation continues. Girl falls A 16-YEAR-OLD girl who Jost her feoting while climb- ing on Whyte Island at Lighthouse Park Sunday around 3 p.m. fell 22.5 metres (75 ft.) into some prickly bushes. The West Vancouver Fire Department and ambu- lance services transported Carolyn Strother to Lions Gate Hospital, where she was treated for minor cuts and bruises and released. Barge collision A 31-YEAR-OLD Vancouver man is facing alcohoi-relat- ed charges after his boat collided with an oil pump at a gas barge on July 7 in Fisherman’s Cove in West Vancouver. According to the West Vancouver Police, the boater had refuelled his four-metre (14 ft.) motor boat and allegedly attempted to leave the gas barge at a high rate of speed. The boater, police said, appeared to lose control of the vessel resulting in the boat going on to the wharf and hit- ting the oii pump of the Esso gas barge. The boater is facing charges of impaired operation of a vessel and operation of a vessel while having a blood alcohol of over £0 milligrams.
