Board begins budget

NORTH Vancouver School Board voted to have the District
44 July | to June 30 operating budget drafted, despite the
limited budget information available thus far.

Board secretary-treasurer Len
Berg told trustees that budget
preparation would have to be
started in order to coniply with
budget deadline dates outlined by
the provincial ministry of educa-
tion.

Under the interim Education Fi-
nance Act,
budgets is required by March 15.

Berg pointed out the governm-
ent’s intention to revoke the
education ministry’s authority to

submission of school ,

of school board budgets and to in-
troduce legislation allowing boards
to raise money beyond those allot-

ted in the ministry’s fiscal
framework through residential
taxation.

for the 1986-87 budget has yet to
be received from the ministry, Berg
