In just about every way
—— acceleration, braking,
handling, and ride — the
new 3.2CL is 2 step-up in
performance.

Compared to the 3.0CL,
base 3.2CL models have 25
more horsepower and Type
S models have 60 more
horsepower.

In the Type S, this mani-
fests itself ia blistering accel-
eration and excellent mid-
range passing ability with
only minimal rorque-steer.

Despite the 3.2CL's
heavier curb weight, it feels
much quicker and much
tighter than the previous
model.

Yet on the highway, the
engine purrs like a cat,
revving at a comfortable
2,090 c.p.m. in top gear at
100 km/h.

The standard five-speed
automatic “SportShift”
transmission replaces the
previous four-speed auto-
matic transmission.

The new transmission
changes gears with precision
and smoothness, and com-
plements rather than
detracts from the sporty per-
formance of the engine.

In SportShift mode,
where shifting can be done
manually in sequential fash-
ion by pushing the lever for-
wards to upshift and back-
wards to downshift, there is
a slight lag in shifts between

ward pitch when braking
and minimal dive when
accelerating, and high-speed
stability is uncannily reassur-
ing. Yet despite it’s low-pro-

a comfortabie ride.

VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist)
on Type S models helps pre-

The 3.2CL’s standard
variable-assist power steering
is quick and responsive,
while its standard four-wheel
