Dear Editor:

The North Shore News may have been voted the best
community newspaper and yourself the best columnist: but
neither you nor the paper give a fair and balanced view of the
opinions of your readers.

Almost without exception only the knockers are printed in
your paper.

{ happen to like the fast ferries.

They don’t create as much wave action as do the numer-
ous deep sea ships that have to pass through West Vancouver
to Squamish.

They have had the effect of creating a pool of highly
skied marine construction workers ata time when we in
B.C. have been busily closing down our shipyards for want of
contracts,

Of course we may have paid less for some other country to
supply our needs. J, for one preter, to keep the jobs and
money at home to be recycled back into the community.

As to cost: it costs much much more just to desiga and put
into production a simple little automobile. These ships are
magnificent and if we would only pay some homage to their
builders and show a little pride to the world, maybe we would *
not look so silly.

It is tough enough to compete in the world market with-
out the local doomsayers trying to make political points at
the expense of us all.

Another point that I have not heard you mention is that,
now we have the PacifiCats, the large trucks booming
through our neighborhoods will be rerouted through the
Tsawwassen terminal. What a blessing that will be.

Maybe we will even let them operate as they are designed
to do and maybe those saboteurs that Ted (Nebbeling) men-
tioned will stop plugging the toilets with paper towels.
