major steering problems in the warm-up and
they were forced into a major rebuild at the
last minute. They did eventually get their car
to the line in time for their race — the con-
testants were divided into three divisions —
but finished off the pace.
Nevertheless, Zachery’s determination
was noted by all and he reecived the award for
Perseverance — one of three awards that all
the Lirde Brothers vore on tor themsely

Soap Box Derby provides an important
example of the positive aspects of the pro-
gram to prospective volunteers as a means of
encouraging their involve
