T hope you all read his
column in the Oct 11
Vancouver Sun.

For those of you who
missed it Lautens was com-
menting on the appearance
of Ms Mary-Woo Sims and
Harinder Mahil before the
Sun’s editorial board, of
which he is a member.

Lautens tells us that Ms
W-S referred cn a number of
occasions to what she
described as “the complaint
of the Jewish community”
against you-know-who,

*.” Lauténs pointed out that
it was no such thing. Rather
it was the ill-intentioned
_action of a group of Jews,
whose motives can only be

essed.

The whining NIMBYs need

the traffic thee he has created).

semitic neo-nazis known as
the Reform Party of Canada.

Lautens, with devastating

- accuracy, pointed out that

this sort of thinking is pre:
cisely the “stereotyping” (i.c.
of the “identifiable group”)
which the iniquitous Bill 33
is supposed to stamp out.

Sims and her cohorts thus
are themselves guilty of what
Lautens calls “the premise of
Nazi doctrine: All Jews think
alike. All Jews behave alike,
solely in the interests of
Jewry.”

Ms Woo Sims and her
cohorts are thus themselves
guilty of the evil they decry
in others, at fabulous
expense to the public.

A second aspect of the
Sun meeting which is even
more revealing and alarming
is that Harinder Mahil smug-
ly told some fainr voices on
the Sun’s editorial board
who expressed alarm over
the persecution of Doug
Collins and the crippling
cost of the defence in such

proceedings, that “lots of
complaints” had been
received against the
Vancouver Sun itself but that
these had been ignored by
the Human Wrongs Branch,
who had thus protected free-
dom of speech and expres-
sion.

Do you see whar Sam
Johnson meant by “cant”?

As if this lot would dream
of taking on the mighty Sun
and its cohorts in the nation-
al media even if they had
occasion to, which, given the
mealy mouthed hypocrisy
that passes for mainline jour-
nalism nowadays, is doubt-
ful.

It is far easier to pander
to approved interest groups
and attempt to silence critics
by holding the spectre of
bankruptcy over their heads.

The only way to stop this
is for the human rights com-
mission to be required to
fund all defence expenses
and for the commissioners to
be held personally liable for
all costs in the event that 2
complaint is eventually
rejected by the courts.

Better stiil, abolish the
whole silly business and let

the cry-babies fend for
themselves.

On the other hand IJ have
some complaints against the
Vancouver Sun which I wish
to report to the commission.

If Ms Woo Sims and Mr.
Yarinder Mahi refuse to act
{ will consider applying to
the courts for an order that
they do their duty.

Jewish Congress, Pacitic
Branch, have apparently ct >-
sen to ignore this palpable
instance of racial stereo-typ-
ing, 1 hereby lay a formal
complaint against Ms Brook
and her editorial page editor
Ms Patricia Graham.

of freedom who have sub-

Free Speech Defence Fund
plus all the old codgers who
were the subject of separate
remarks by this same Brook
