Court action unless it voluntar-
ily complies with the require-
ments of North Vancouver
District’s business licence
bylaw.

According to district licence and
enforcement staff, the Domino's
pizza franchise at 150! Lynn Valley
Road began interior renovations
without permits and began business
operations without a business
licence in May 1995.

The franchise is operated by Sea
More Pizza Inc.

A district investigation resulted
in the operators being charged with
seven counts of operating without a
business licence. But that trial will
not take place in provincial ‘court
until February, 1996.

Permits have since been
obtained but the work has not
passed inspections and the business
has been in continual operation
without a business licence for five
months. ‘Domino’s Pizza head
office was contacted by district staff
but refused to take any action.

Counci} unanimously approved
instructing district solicitors to initi-
ate Supreme Court action prohibit-
ing the Domino's franchise from
operating until its owners oblain a
valid business licence.

Commented Mayor Murray
Dykeman: “f don’t understand how
any business thinks it can operate
outside the bylaws even if its head
office is somewhere in Carolina.”
The district would discontinue any
Supreme Court action upon compli-
ance.
