34 — Friday, April 9, 1999 - North Shore News Aris council seeks FANS nominees THE FANS award was designed five years ago to give nationally known artists local recognition. Musicians, artists, sculp- tors, painters, writers, film- makers and dancers are all eli- gible for the award, created by the North Shore Arts Commission in 1995 und pre- sentated annually during a gala celebration. The arts commission is currently accepting nominations for the 1999 award. The deadline for nominations is May 14. Award recipients will be Hew honoured at FANS Night, a reception and fundraising event to be held in October. All proceeds will support FANS, or Fund for the Arts on the North Shore, which will assist the local arts com- munity through grants and scholarships. The fund is administered by the FANS Society and managed by the North Shore — Charitable Foundation.
