The loss gave Lynn Valley at tournament record of one win and three losses — eliminating them from the cham- pionship final. Their gutsy performance was epitomized by Monday's 9-8 win over Sydney, Nova Scotia, where they came from behind to tie the game at seven after seven innings of regulation play. In the first extra inning, Lynn Valley scored a run to record the victory. With the exception of one blowout to the powerful White Rock team, Lynn Valley was never out of a game, losing by just one or two runs through the provincial and national tourna- ments. The team was tired and suffer- ing from injuries which prevented them from fielding much of their starting line-up. This tournament ends a season that saw Lynn Valley go 18-0 in the regular season, 5-0 in the dis- trict. play-offs, 3-2 in the Provincial Championships and 1-3 (to press time) in the Canadian Championships. Lynn Valley's 12-year-olds also put up a valiant effort in their bid to represent Canada at the Major Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsytvania. The team was 0-4 to press time after winning their last five straight in the provincial tourna- ment the week before. They lost 6-2 to Sherbrooke, Quebec, on Saturday; 5-1 to Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, on Sunday; 8-6 to the Prairie team Monday; and 4-1 to the Ontario team Tuesday.
