Lynn Canyon celebrates with dedication ceremony THE NEWLY expanded Lynn Canyon Park will be celebrated with a dedication ceremony tomorrow. Organizers invite the community to take part in the celebration, which is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. The event will recapture the spirit of the first park dedication ceremony held in 1912, Local Boy Scouts and Girl Guides will be led by the Navy League Cadets mar- ching band and an honor party from the Six Field Engineer Squadron, North Vancouver District Mayor Murray Dykeman and council will be joined by Burrard Band Chief Leonard George, Paul Hundal, Harold Fromme, parks advisory committee chairman Diana Belhouse, master of cere- monies Ald. Paul Turner and rep- resentatives of the McTavish fami- ly, who donated the original 12 acres of park land to the municipality. The Argyle School Orchestra will provide entertainment. The park was created 80 years ago in October 1911. The McTavish brothers, who operated a logging company, donated 12 acres of fand fronting Lyan Creek.
