Word is that the organizers are hoping to get the Hollywood star to add Vancouver to her list of four Canadian cities for what is be- ing billed as her “farewell tour.” Nothing is at all definite yet, and it’s terribly hush-hush but if they can pull it off, they hope to have her perform a one-night concert some time in February. Wouldn't that be a treat and a coup!... Joy Metcaife telis cil ... eet The other big scoop this week is that Mr. Gerry Altman of West Van, the hard-working and dedicated gentleman who helped found the gala New Year's Eve ex- travaganza in Vancouver, known as ‘’First Night,” which he and his partner, Faye McMyn, co- produced, is stepping down from that position. After three successful First Nights, he wants and needs another challenge! He plans to stay on the Board of Directors but will not be directly involved in the overall production. And that comes as a disappoin- ting surprise! Faye, of course, will continue on as producer... Even the Izzard’s newest dog, Koko, had a medieval cast about her... One of those many guests look- ing totally unrecognizable but very ‘in’ was restaurateur, jean Pierre Bachellerie, while his wife, Ann, wore a deep teal velvet, off- the-shoulder Laura Ashley gown, and added touches of black mink .. Food teacher and consultant Romy Reimann was draped in tiny pearls and looked most Cleopatra-ish Striking Janice Damkier swished and swirled in a long, full red gown and head-dress that she'd made, so reminiscent of the style of Anne of a Thousand Days or a pretty Elizabeth Taylor... The new Freach Con. Gen. Bernard Ledun and his attractive wife, Francine, bcth tres elegante in their black and jewel-bedecked finery, were enjoying the festivities, along with veterinarians, Dr. Brad Gilbert and his pretty wife, Dr. June Gilbert... The party’s old world ambience was enhanced by the forestry set- ting of lzzard’s Norman-style home in Eagleridge, where Daniel gets his inspiration for his many masterpieces... eet Business scoop this week is that there has been a major amalgama- tion in the talent agency business in Vancouver. And it can’t help but be good news for all the pro- fessional acting and technical tal- ent in the entire province! Rob Haynes of Haynes Talent Management and Bruce Ward ot Act IV have been working on this partnership for the past 18 months and it's finally happened. The name of the new enterprise is ‘“‘2Qtst Century Productions,’ which will handle special events, voice-overs and industrial films, and “Star Machine,” in which they hope to create a genuine star system for the B.C. theatricai establishment. That will be handl- ed by the very competent Zanna Downs. They'll now have connec- tions in Europe, the Pacific Rim and Los Angeles.
