Ee community roundup MP to talk to anti-parole “TS - OTTAWA LISTENING?” will be the topic of an address by Capilano MP Ron Hun- ungton this Fnday, May 13. at a public meeting in Delbrook Community Centre, North Vancouver, sponsored by the North Shore branch of Citizens United for Safety and Justice The meeting starts at 8 p.m. in the Tamarack Room. C.U.S.J. originated in Duncan in September 1981 after Lisa Clausen aged 15, jogging in her peaceful, rural neighbourhodédd, was brutally murdered by a criminal released = on mandatory supervision. Membership. which ts by donanon, has grown from the family and a handful of friends to in excess of 2500, with branches in vanous areas of B.C. and one in Calgary, Alberta. The first of these branches was formed on the North Shore in March, 1982 and now has over 500 members. In addition, Mr. William Outerbridge, chairman of the Nauonal Parole Board, spoke at one of their public meetings. In an attempt to influence changes in the Criminal Code, C.U.S.J. has been mvolved in much research and has compiled an in- formative pamphlet for the distnbution to those who share their concerns regarding the increase in violent crime and_ early release of dangerous sexual and violet offenders. C.U.S.J. believes that the safety of children and all innocent citizens must take precedence over the rights of cmminals.
