Al2 - Wednesday, March 23, 1983 - North Shore News EE community round up Market eyed for the Quay INITIAL response indicates .. a public market at Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver would be a_ resounding success, says Eric Martin, general manager of the Lonsdale Quay Develop- ment Company. Although the market is still in the feasibility stage, interest was stirred when the prospect was mentioned in a newspaper item in January. “We've had over 100 calls and numerous letters from people interested in par- licipating,” says Martin. “And we've received direct inquiries about possible outlets for fruit and produce, meat, flowers, homemade chocolates, _ health food, honey — a whole range of public market operations.” LQDC has been studying markets in locations throughout North America and has been consulting with planners of the Granville Island Public Market. According to Martin, all indications show that Lonsdale Quay would be an ideal location and formal proposals are now being prepared for presentation and detailed analysis.
