While the answer to that question may not
he readily apparent to North Vancouver City
councillors, a policy committee meeting of
council should change that

At stake lies the sensitive issue of grieving
citzens placing omaments, permanent plant-
ings and other decoritions on their loved ones’
grave sites.

Changes to the city’s cemetery bylaw being
considered by city council could: prohibit the
“placement of any such omaments or decort-
lions an grave sites at the city cemetery,

Former premier joins party

FORMER SOCRED leader Bill Vander Zalm has joined

the Reform Party of B.C.

Vander Zalm-contirmed Thursday that he joined the party’s con-
stitugncy in South Delta kast week,

But the former premier said he has no particular phins to seek a party
nomination. ;

“My only aspiration is to try and further the cause and bring some
influence to bear with regard to family values.” Vander Zalm told the
News. :

Former leader of the Reform Party of B.C. Ron Gamble said he found
the news “surprising but welcome.” :
