LIONS GATE Hospital intern Dr. Charles Fisher and the widow of
Dr. Bill Arber proudly display the Dr. Arber Memorial Scholarship
plaque. Fisher was the first recipient of the scholarship Friday at the
LGH intern graduation ceremony. The scholarship, set up through the
LGH Foundation, includes an educational prize worth approximately
$700 to $750. Fisher is enrolled in the orthopedic surgery training
program at VGH/UBC. Mrs. Bill Arber presented the plaque to the
most promising surgeon among this year’s group of interns at LGH.
This is the third year of the intern program at LGH.

B.C. women go to Moscow

B.C. WILL be well represented in
a Women’s International Con-
ference focusing on peace, equality
and development te be held in
Moscow from June 23-27.

Eighty women from Canada will
be in attendance, with 14 women
from B.C. representing a wide
cross-section of women involved in
peace, union and women’s groups
and various other organizations.

A special Native Women's dele-
gation will include three repre-
sentatives from B.C,

The focus of the congress is
Towards 2000 — Without Nuclear

examine the role and cooperation
of non-governmental organizations
in implementing the Forward-look-
ing Strategies adopted at the Unit-
ed Nations World Conference and
