Board candidate David Janis firmly believes the role of the education system in en- suring the future of its students must be discussed. Janis also believes students are treated too much like children rather than people who are expected to perform to the best of their abilities. He wants more parental and community input in the management of District 44 schools and thinks the school board must be willing to address the facts of a given problem rather than succumb to political games. Janis proposes that the schyvol board delegate authority and responsibilities for ihe direction of each North Vancouver school to iegitimize parents’ groups. “Those who are most affected should have the most input,"’ Janis savs. He believes that referenda should be used to raise additional school funding and that professional stan- dards should be set- for the dress of District. 44 teaching staff.
