Nineteen-year-old Mark Jacklin has been charged with the murder of his 17- year-old sister Carol-Ann Jacklin. He appeared in provincial court in North Vancouver Monday and was remanded in custody until Wednesday next week. This week, as friends and neighbors spoke of the respect’ with which = the Jacklin family was regarded home. ‘ ae ae by the community, RCMP detectives were trying to piece together the cir- cumstances and motives for the hideous murder. . There were nine children in the Jacklin family, at least six of whom were still living at home with their parents and grandmother who was confined fo a wheelchair. Most of the family was out at the time the tragedy happened. and it is con- sidered likely that the murder occurred — shortly before the return of the father, Gordon Jacklin, who had taken a younger son toa soccer game.
