North Shore Rescue (NSR) volunteers found Cory Schell, 19, and Ryan Angus, 21, both of Vancouver, at 8:15 a.m. Friday. The pair were suffering from mild hypothermia. The search for Schell and Angus was initiated by West Vancouver Police at 2:15 a.m. Cypress Bowl sé patrollers were unable to locate the pair in the controlled ski area during the night of Jan. 13. Twenty NSR volunteers, seven with Lions Bay Rescue, one avalanche dog, West Vancouver Police, seven Cypress Bowl staff and an A-Star helicopter chartered from Talon Helicopters were brought in to search. The nwo were found with a heat-sens- ing device aboard the helicopter. Searchers had to contend with white-out blizzard conditions, extreme avalanche conditions and steep slopes during the rescue effort at Australian gully.
