Initially the chamoer sur-
vey was conducted in response
toa September survey, which
the chamber  crroneously
attributed to rhe provincial
government.

In fact, the September sur-
vey was done by McIntyre and
Mustel Research without any
involvement from the orovin-
cial government.

Ainsworth said the cham-
ber was concerned by the sur-
vey because only 39 of the
762 respondents were from
the North Shore.

“We felt that the greater

‘number of respondents were

from the south Interior,” she
said. “They weren’t even
bridge users.”

Ainsworth said the chamber
was hoping to receive the iden-
tical number of responses to its
survey to offset the results from
the September study.

Lions Gate Project com-
munications manager John
Doyle said both studies do a
poor job of representing truc
public opinion because of
their smail sample size.

“Less than 20% of cotal
bridge users are daily com-
muters from rhe “North
Shore,” said Doyle. “Fifty per
cent of all bridge users tre
from outside’ the North
Shore.”

Nevertheless, he said both
are likely to be looked at by
the provincial government as
it wrestles with various deci-
sions relating to the upgrad-
ing or replacement of the
