WE'VE come a tong
way, baby. At the turn
of this century a flash
of ankle was considered
risqué. Last week’s
Ontario Court cf
Appeal decision that a
Guelph woman commit-
ted no crime when she
took off her shirt ona
hot 199] day set a
precedent for all
Canadian wemen to do
the same. Provided
women aren’t baring all
for “commercial pur-
poses” they are free to
Strip to the waist with
all the rights and
restricitons that go
along with it. The deci-
sion has some people
cheering, but most of
the people we polled
modestly declined the
honor, citing family val-
wes, embarrassment
and safety concerns.
But all these would be
quelled by a gradual
shift in attitude and
acceptance of who we
are beneath those
designer loges.
