Heritage Week nears

FRIDAY, SEPT. 16 signals the
beginning of a weekend packed with
heritage events.

A celebration coordinated by the
communities of the North Shore, the
program gets under way Friday
evening with what promises to be a
highly entertaining event.

Ivan Sayers, well-known
Vancouver fashion historian, will
present “Fashions of the 1940s: a
look back to the war years and to the
conditions that determined the styles
of both women’s and men’s cloth-
ing.”

The show will take place at the
North Vancouver Museum.
Saturday's events feature walking
tours, free harbor tours, and a work-
shop about caring for your old fami-

ly photographs and treasures.

A search for the remains of old
logging and mining sites will be
conducted during a hike in Lynn
Headwaters Regional Park on
Saturday. Sunday’s events are high-
lighted by the festivities organized
in celebration of the naming of Point
Atkinson as a National Historic Site.

For those who wish a quieter
afiemoon, Roy Pallant of the Nerth
Shore Historical Society, will guide
walkers through the footpaths and
heritage sites of North Lonsdate.
