Vander Zatm was not specific on how the government would aid the Lions, but one way this could be done would be to forgive the rent on the government-owned B.C. Place Stadium. Price- ~iags. of this recent move could run from $2 million to $2'%2 million, depending on the television revenues and gate receipts for remaining games. Earlier, the Lions board tried to impose pay cuts on players, who fought the move. Oouble doctoring charges A 37-YEAR-OLD man of no fixed address appeared Wednesday in North Vancouver provincial court to face 13 charges related to an alleged spree of obtaining con- trolled prescription drugs through double doctoring. Roger Edward Pepper was orig- inally charged with nine counts of obtaining a controlled drug from seven different doctors without disclosing to the various dociors details of drugs previously obtain- ed within the preceding 30 days. The charges were laid against him in connection with incidents in August. and September in which Pepper was alleged to have obtain- ed presciptions of Methylphenidate in various Lower Mainland municipalities. Pepper was further charged with three counts of impersonating another male in order to avoid detection for double doctoring and two counts of causing a doctor to act On a forged document in con- nection with letters claiming that prescriptions of Ritalin were need- ed for two males suffering from narcolepsy. Appearing before Judge J.K. Shaw, Pepper was remanded to Oct. 26 to fix a date for trial on the charges.
