TEACHERS in North Vancouver will receive 17 per cent pay increases and im- proved fringe benefits, in an agree- ment worked out Saturday which comes into effect January 1. Both teachers and school board negotiators appear happy with the settlement which received overwhelm- ing acceptance Monday in a ratification vote by members of the North Vancouver Teachers’ Association. (NVTA) The 17 per cent pay award at each step of the teachers’ pay scale is seen as counter- ng the effects of inflation, whereas teachers have in re- cent years stayed one per cent behind the Consumer Price Index increase.
