Where are snow plows?

OPEN LETTER TO DISTRICT
OF NORTH VANCOUVER

I have lived on Connaught
Avenue since 1964 and until this
year I have been very pleased with
the district’s snow removal.

We do not expect to have our
coad plowed immediately since it is
a cul-de-sac and not a through
road, but we do expect it to be
cleared within 24 to 36 hours. We
are now into our third day and
have not seen a snow plow in the
neighborhood.

We have had heavy snowfalls
before and been stranded for a day

but the plow would always come
around eventually — even if it was
midnight. What has happened to
the service this year?

Friends who live close to streets
that have been plowed tell me the
plow just dumps the snow across
the intersection of their streets —
leaving a three-foot snow bank
that residents have to shovel out.

We are very disappointed in the
district snow removal this year and
expect an improvement after the
next snowfall,

NVD: ‘clean up act’

Dear Editor:

I think the snow removal and
snow plowing in the District of
North Vancouver is absolutely
disgusting.

With the amount of taxes we
pay in North Van, one would think
this would be more efficiently
taken care of. Snow was not even
taken off the main bus routes as of
Friday, Feb. 9 — from the

snowfall Wednesday, Feb. 7.

I tive on a side street and it never
was plowed. As a result of this [
was not able to get my car off my
Street and therefore missed two
days of work.

Perhaps it is time for the district
to clean up its act,

NVD bus routes weren't plowed

Dear Editor:

As a homeowner on Edgemont
Boulevard, I can state from
first-hand experience that our
street, which is a bus route, was
not plowed until early Friday
morning, Feb. 9, after the
snowfall on Feb. 7.

John Bremner, the North Van-
couver District municipal
engineer, claims that the priority
was to clear bus routes (North
Shore News, Feb, 11).

North Vancouver District resi-
dents who complained about ei-
ther slow or non-existent snow

clearance dis so justifiably. I
would add that Eldon Road, on
which Cleveland School is
located, was not touched until
that same Friday.
