Flames melt Steelers THE NORTH Shore Winter Club Flames snapped a three game Ics- ing streak with a hard fought 4-2 win over the Grandview Stesivrs in West Coast Junior Hockey League play Saturday at the Winter Club. Saturday’s win at home was a boost for the Flames after suf- fering an &-3 pounding by Co- quitlam on Wednesday and then a demoralizing 10-3 loss to Ab- botsford on Friday. With team captain Scott Gordon still out of action with a knee inju- ry and Jason Loewen lost for the season with a broken leg, the Flames were further hurt by the loss of two key players who suf- fered knee injuries early in Fri- day’s game — Johr Ridd ior the rest of the season and Andrew Wilson for four to six weeks. The Flames’ 4-2 win over Grandview came the hard way, battling bac. from a 2-0 deficit to hold the visitors scoreless hile putting four goals of their own on the board. Alter trating tke Steelers 2-0 after one period, the Flames got on the scoreboard at 9:46 of the se- cond with a power-play goal by Brad Costa from Brian Lee and Tim Stoddart. Thirty seconds later, Kevin Alexander finishcd off a relay from Sohn Cox and Costa to knot the score at two. With just over four minutes remaining in the pericd, Andrew Merilees put the Flames ahead 3-2, scoring what proved to be the game winne7 from Carlos Christensen. Sean Morrison and Kevin Buhr teamed up for the insurance marker at the 14:42 mark of the third period to cinch the 4-2 win for the Flames. Goaltender Kevin Radbourne was pivotal in the Fiames’ victory with clutch saves throughout the game. Over the three periods the shots on goal were even at twen- ty-six for each team. On Nov. 25, at 9 p.m. the Flames host the Port Coquitlam Buckeroos in the Winter Club. | from#y QZ to P155:30R13 P165'80A13 P175/80R13 P185/80R13 P185'75R14 : Se P195/75R14 : es P205/75R14 : STRA FTE P295/75R15 Sample Savings: P155/80R13 1 P215/75R15 Our reg. price $78.99 P225.75R15 P235/7SA1S R This prernium all season steel belted radial affers a you 2 luxurious ride. quick response & the Icok of performance all year round.
