Fishermen’s Credit Union 48TH ANNUAL REPORT HIGHLIGHTS The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that the credit union during 1988 increased its assets by almost 22.9 per cent to $132 million; had gross income of $12.4 million of which more than 70.6 per cent was returned to the members as interest on deposits and dividends on shares; and for the 48th straight year has declared a dividend. 1988 rate was 8 per cent to the shareholder. 1989 began with retained earnings of $5.9 million — well in excess of the minimum statutory requirement of $2.9 million. It’s retained earnings as a percen- tage of total assets is one of the highest in the Province of British Columbia. President, Mr.. R.F. (Bob) Long, in his report to shareholders ex- plained that during 1988 the credit union “was characteriz- ed by steady progress and sound operations. There was a dramatic increase in utilization of our services by members. This is reflected by the statistics for members’ savings — an increase of $19.9 million § or 20.2 per cent over the | previous year end.” At the Annual General Meeting of April 14, 1989 - § the membership approved an Equity. Share Patronage Refund Proposal amounting to $867,000.00 which will be paid back to members in the form of Equity Shares.
