those who work on a cotnmission
only basis. Their commissions are
carned from the sale of financial
eroducts such as life insurance,
mutual funds, annuities, term de-
posits end other investments.

Then there are those who work
on a fee and/or commission basis.
Planners in this middle range will
have established an hourly rate of
expected earnings and will moder-
ate their fees or eliminate them all
together based on the commissions
and brokerage which may be earn-
ed in implementing the financial
recommendations.

When seeking a financial plan-
ner, make sure you are dealing
with someone whose attitudes and
philosophies are similar to your
own. For example, a young ag-
gressive entrepreneur may not be
comfortable with a specialist in
conservative retirement planning.
On the other hand, an older person
approaching retirement may not
want to deal with a dynamic young
stockbroker,

The best financial planners get
their clients by referral from other,
satisfied clients so ask around
amongst your friends and don't be
afraid to ask questions about ex-
perience, educational and profes-
sional background.
