An amputee *‘Learn to Ski” Program and clinic will be held at the Whistler/Black- comb ski resort near Van- couver, B.C., from January 9-12. Sponsored by the 52 Association and Southland Canada, Inc., owners of 7-Eleven Stores, the clinic has the support of the Disabled Skiers Association of Canada. More than 100 amputees are expected to converge at Whistler Village during the four-day clinic. All lodging, food, equipment, — instruc- uon, and lift tickets will be provided free of charge to participants. The only cost to Participants is transportation to the mountain. Mayor Mark Angus of Whistler is pleased that Whistler/Blackcomb will host this event and has stated that ‘‘this ts an = excellent rehabilitative as well as recreational program for am- putees to regain their self confidence’’. Dave Murray, Canadian Olympic skier, reiterated the mayor’s comments by saying that ‘‘this ski clinic is an ex- citing opportunity for disabl- ed people to become active in a sport they can enjoy, and we are looking forward to having them on the mountain.”’ Frank Farr, Manager of the Canadian Division of The Southland Corporation an- nounced today that the three hundred and fifty 7-Eleven Convenience Stores in Canada will participate in an outreach effort to inform the public of the upcoming four- day ‘‘Learn to Ski’ event.
