Mark Doherty of the Lynn
Valley Falcons will be a
member of the British
Columbia Under 16 All Star
team, competing in the
Canadian Under 16 All Star
soccer championships,
August 26 to 29.

The championships will be
followed by a week-ing
player development camp in
Montreal.

HORSE SHOW

The fifth North Shore
Horseman's’ Association
horse show of the season was
held at Korral Riding
Academy recently, with 35
horses entered in the all
English events.

High point competitors
were Terri Banks (senior),
Janine Smith (intermediate),
and Barb Hofbauer (junior).
Suzanne Wiltshire riding
Thor won the blue ribbons
for Good Hands and Seat
Over Jumps (to 2’ 6”) and
Working Hunter Over Jumps
(to°3’ 3”). Only three out of
ten entries successfully
completed the latter course.

Next on the calendar is the
Burnaby Challenge Show,
September 19 at Korral. The.
event features both English
and Western classes and
spectators are welcome.

BAD LUCK
North Shore driver Marty

Knoll continues to suffer bad
luck, and has now failed to
complete three races in a
row.

At an International
Conference event held at
Seattle International
Raceway last weekend,
Knoll’s Formula Vee’s clutch
gave out just after Knoll
maneuvered into first place.

Last time out a Gre
deflated after Knoll ran over
debris on the track and
during the previous race he
was involved in a serious
accident on the first lap
which severely damaged his
car.

TEST RIDER

Leslie Laing may not have
competed at the recent
American Continental
Young Riders Cham-
pionships in Maple Ridge,
but the North Vancouver
girl attracted the eye of the
judges nevertheless.

Laing was supposed to
compete for Alberta, but

that province decided at the.

last minute not to sponsor
any riders. So Laing ended
up as test rider for the
dressage events.
