Lions rear to
ringette win

THE PETITE ‘A’ Lions of North
West Vancouver Ringette started
off 1988 by continuing their winn-
ing streak in a 9-1 decision over the
Coquitlam ‘A’ squad.

A hat trick by Lisa Demeulle, a
goal and three assists by Kim
McNeill and strong play by Darcy
Derringer led the Lions to the win.

Other action saw the Beile
Blades defeat the Delta Devils 6-2.

Jana Quinn scored a hat trick,
and strong offensive play by Heidi
Biggers, Liisa Huopalainen and
Lea McLean helped the Blades to
their decisive victory.

The Petite ‘B' Tigers lost their
game io Abbotsford, but strong
defense by Nicole Shumksx and a
hat trick by Naomi Kojima in the
last two minutes made the game
exciting.

TOP-RANKED CANADIAN squash player Dale Styner had no
troubie in winning the Evergreen Squash Tournament at the Evergreen
Squash Club in North Vancouver. The Coors Light Grand Prix com-
petition drew top men and women squash players, including Joyce
Maycock, who won (he women's open title in the competition,

THE NORTH Shore Winter Club’s Petite ‘B? and Tween ‘A’ ringette
teams returned from recent tournaments with top medals for their winn-
ing performances.

‘The Tween ‘A’: girls were ‘undefeated it in an early January tournament
in Edmonton and came home with the gold medal; on Vancouver Island

about the same time,-the winter club's Petite ‘B’ team placed second, br-

inging home the silver medal.

Intez-provincial ringette action’ comes to the club Feb. '4.to 7 where 25
teams from as far away as Manitoba and Alberta wiil compete at Petite

to Deb levels.

Local skaters qualify
