Historic labor sites explored A UNIQUE view of Vancouver's 100 years through the eyes of its labor movement is accessible to both local citizens and visitors with the start of the Centennial Labour Committee’s free guided walking tours. The tours leave from Carnegie Centre on Hastings and Main Streets. Two-hour walks through the downtown, from Main to Gran- ville Streets and return, peint out the sites of labor’s struggles, triumphs and defeats. The Aquaculture Centre, which is located in Sechelt, is jointly ad- ministered by Capilano College and Malaspina College in Sechelt. “There is a real demand on the Sunshine Coast for people with some basic experience in the aquaculture business,’’ says Capilano College Aquaculture coordinator Steve Marsh. Marsh has organized an intro- ductory course in Aquaculture for August, in an attempt to meet the demand for experienced workers on sites in the area. The three week course provides training for newcomers to the aquaculture industry, Emphasis has been placed on salmon culture, but there will also be some instruc- tion in the culture of oysters, shellfish and kelp.
