been charged with
murder in the death of
Kathleen Joan Helm.

According to a North
Vancouver RCMP
spokesman, Kenneth James
Simpson was taken into
custody Thursday in the
Vancouver Island town of
Sidney as the result of police
investigation.

Simpson appeared in court
in North Vancouver Friday
afternoon and was charged
with second degree murder

The arrest comes less than
a week after the head of the
North Vancouver RCMP
detective squad had said in
vestigation of the case had
turned up few leads.

Helm was murdered on
the night of July 2! or early
July 22. Her body was found
at dawn on July 22 on the
beach at Cates Park.
