some 60 yards. from her
former Ambleside  apart-
ment. On the contrary, she
told the News, she was glad
that young people had a
chance to enjoy themselves
at the disco.

Chalmers wrote: “I would

let the young enjoy them-
selves in their carly years.”

spokesman says there has
been a definite increase in

the number of noise and .

drunkenness complaints in
the area. He _ added,
however, that The police
“can't really say the per-
petrators of the noise came
from Clyde's.”

West Van -coyncil has
asked the police chief and
municipal staff for full
reports on other licensed
establishments.

These reports will
presumably clarify whether
Clyde's is, in fact, the cause
of the problem — or whether
itis unfairly blamed for the
activities of outside rowdies
and vandals who are not
among its own customers.

Meanwhile, the voluntary
testimony of Evelyn
Chaimers has inevitably
raised some doubts about
the validity of the charges
levelled against the disco by
Irwin.
