AT the start of this century, conventional thought
on transportation was being challenged.

~ Inventors were busy building new means of moving people
into this busy cencary. Automobiles, planes and motorcycles all
were coming into being.

In its earliest form, the motorevcle was a bicycle with an
engine mounted on the frame, like the American-made Thomas,

“Building on cach successful design, a wide variety of manu-
facturers brought out their own version of the latest in two-
wheeled transporcation. Gradually engines got bigger, designs
improved and ‘the evlutien of the motorcycle was under way,

made at that time. While this approach leaves our many models,
it does oiler an overview of the development of the machines.

From the tiny single-cylinder beginniags to the enormous
six-cylinder Honda V. alkyrie, we can follow the trends and styles
that have shaped the niotarcycles seen cruising che highways
today.
