Police seek suspect THE North Vancouver RCMP are asking the public’s assistance in identifving a burglary suspect filmed by a security camera on March 3. Pohce believe a burglar pricd open a door to a build- ing containing mainly doc- tors’ offices in the 1900-block of Lonsdale Avenue. Nothing was taken during the break and enter. Police believe the burglar spent about a minute in the building. He was scared off by either an alarm or other Raper jailed A 26-year-old Surrey man was jailed one year for sexuaily assaulting a Japanese exchange student. Rahzad Diego Siavashi pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting the 20- vear-old woman. The ‘sexual assault tack place on March 17 in the victim's North Vancouver City apartment. Related charges against Siavashi of possessing the woman's stolen credit card for six days after the sexual assault and impersonation were drdépped (stay ed). According to the North Vancouver RCMP, the victim knew Siavashi through mutual friends. The sexual assault involved forced sexual intercourse, said police. Police say the victim struggled with Siavashi and tried to resist. After the sexual assault, police say Siavashi ordered in Greek food. Police say that later Siavashi tried to get pills for the vie- tim to prevent pregnancy, The victin’s credit card went missing after the sexual assault. Police say $4,000 was racked up on the card the next day. Siavashi has a criminai record that dates back to 1992 _for fraud-reiated offences, theft and assault in North _ Vancouver and elsewhere in the Vancouver area. North Vancouver provincial court Judge Jerome Paradis sentenced Siavashi on June 16. A Parsi interpreter was required for court. Police say the victim did not report the sexually assault until a few days later because she was afraid and ashamed.
