Eli Joseph McGinty, 22, appeared briefly in Maple Ridge provincial court on Thursday. He is accused in the death of Phillip Patrick Barry, 33. McGinty was remanded in custody until his next court date on June 19. The murder was Maple Ridge’s first of this year. Ridge-Meadows RCMP were called to a fight at Barry's home. Barry was found in a pool of blood on the carport floor. He was pro- nounced dead in hospital. Police said Barry died of stab wounds to the heart and liver with a butcher knife. Barry and McGinty had worked at a window-washing job the day of the murder. Police said the pair had been drinking before an argument occurred.
